Relationship/Sex Therapy

Relationships can be some of the most meaningful—
and most difficult—experiences of our lives.

Sometimes you love each other and still can't stop fighting.

Sometimes you function beautifully together but no longer feel emotionally or sexually connected.

Sometimes resentment has replaced curiosity.

Sometimes sex has changed—or disappeared.

Sometimes trust has been broken.

Sometimes you're questioning whether the relationship should continue at all.

And sometimes the relationship isn't the only thing that needs attention.

You do, too.

Re-Wilding Relationships provides Integrative Relationship therapy, Couples therapy, Sex therapy and Individual psychotherapy designed to look beneath the presenting problem and understand the emotional, relational, sexual and behavioral patterns shaping your life and relationships.

Integrative Relationship Therapy

Integrative Relationship Therapy explores how you experience yourself in relationship with other people. That may include your romantic partnership, sexuality, attachment patterns, family relationships, friendships, dating relationships or the relationship you have with yourself.

Integrative Relationship Therapy may help you:

  • Understand recurring relationship patterns

  • Develop emotional regulation and co-regulation skills

  • Strengthen internal and external boundaries

  • Move toward more secure attachment

  • Increase differentiation and relational maturity

  • Identify adaptive childhood strategies that no longer serve you

  • Understand power dynamics

  • Communicate more directly and vulnerably

  • Navigate conflict without destroying connection

  • Develop greater relational accountability

  • Repair relational wounds

  • Rebuild trust

  • Navigate major relationship transitions

  • Develop deeper emotional intimacy

  • Create more authentic, resilient relationships

The goal isn't perfect relationships.

It's developing the capacity to remain connected to yourself while learning how to relate more honestly, responsibly and intimately with another human.

Couples Therapy/

Couples & Sex Therapy

Couples often come to couples therapy saying:

"We keep having the same fight."

"I don't feel heard."

"We're more like roommates."

"Everything turns into an argument."

"I don't trust them anymore."

"We don't have sex."

"One of us wants more closeness and the other wants space."

"We love each other, but we don't know if this is working."

Effective couples therapy GOES BEYOND teaching communication scripts. We examine the relationship system itself.

I teach you how to work with your nervous system.

I teach you how to regulate your emotions.

How does each partner respond to vulnerability?

Who pursues?

Who withdraws?

Who accommodates?

Who controls?

Who over-functions?

Who under-functions?

Where does power live?

What happens when someone feels criticized, rejected, overwhelmed, unwanted or unsafe?

What happens to boundaries?

And what happens when two people's protective strategies collide?

Understanding the pattern and breaking bad relational habits & patterns gives couples an opportunity to stop fighting each other and begin changing the system they're creating together.

octavio-fossatti-BbhqDutqJew-unsplash.jpg

TWO PEOPLE. TWO NERVOUS SYSTEMS.

ONE RELATIONSHIP.

Some couples struggle because they're too emotionally fused.

Individual boundaries become unclear. One person's mood becomes everyone's mood. Conflict feels threatening. Partners may over-function, control, accommodate, pursue, withdraw or abandon themselves to maintain the relationship.

Other couples have the opposite problem.

They're competent, independent adults who have gradually become emotionally disconnected.

They manage the house.

The children.

The schedules.

The careers.

The bills.

But somewhere along the way, they stopped truly reaching one another.

Those couples don't necessarily need the same intervention.

That's why I integrate multiple relational approaches rather than forcing every couple through one therapeutic model.

RELATIONAL LIFE THERAPY (RLT)

Relational Life Therapy can be particularly useful when relationship patterns involve power imbalances, poor boundaries, emotional reactivity, relational entitlement, self-abandonment, grandiosity, shame or difficulty taking responsibility for one's impact.

RLT helps partners develop greater relational maturity through accountability, boundaries, self-esteem, emotional regulation and learning how to live relationally without losing themselves.

The work is direct & confrontational, on purpose.

Because sometimes meaningful change requires more than understanding why you do something.

It requires learning to do something different.

IMAGO RELATIONSHIP THERAPY

When partners function well individually but repeatedly miss one another emotionally, Imago Relationship Therapy can help slow down reactive communication and create deeper understanding.

Imago work explores how past relational experiences influence present relationships while teaching partners how to listen, mirror, validate and empathize without immediately defending themselves.

The goal isn't agreement.

It's learning how to remain curious about another person's experience—even when it differs from your own.

ATTACHMENT, DIFFERENTIATION & THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

Relationships activate us.

Fear of abandonment.

Fear of engulfment.

Fear of rejection.

Fear of inadequacy.

Fear of being controlled.

Fear of losing ourselves.

Attachment patterns help us understand how humans seek safety and connection.

Differentiation helps us learn something equally important:

How do I stay connected to myself while staying connected to you?

Therapy may include work around attachment, nervous system regulation, emotional regulation, co-regulation, boundaries, self-responsibility and the ability to tolerate relational differences without immediately moving into attack, withdrawal, control or self-abandonment.

INTEGRATIVE SEX THERAPY

Sex doesn't exist separately from the relationship.

Sexuality can be affected by stress, resentment, attachment, shame, hormones, medication, parenthood, aging, trauma, body image, relationship dynamics, health, cultural messages, religious experiences, erotic differences and the realities of long-term partnership.

Sometimes the presenting concern is:

"We don't have enough sex."

But the deeper questions may be:

What happened to desire?

What happened to safety?

What happened to play?

What happened to eroticism?

What happened between us?

Integrative Sex Therapy creates a sex-positive, inclusive and nonjudgmental space to explore sexuality as part of the whole human experience.

INFIDELITY & EROTIC RECOVERY

An affair doesn't create only one injured person.

Infidelity can destabilize attachment, identity, trust, sexuality and the entire story a couple thought they understood about their relationship.

Therapy may involve work with both the betrayed partner and the partner who had the affair.

That doesn't mean assigning equal responsibility for the betrayal.

It means understanding the complete relational reality if the couple is going to make an informed decision about what happens next.

Infidelity & Erotic Recovery therapy addresses:

  • Stabilization after discovery

  • Normalizing the trauma for BOTH people

  • Betrayal trauma

  • Accountability

  • Disclosure and boundaries

  • Meaning-making

  • Attachment injuries

  • Rebuilding trust

  • Relationship patterns that existed before the affair

  • Deciding whether reconciliation is possible

  • Building a fundamentally different relationship when partners choose to remain together

  • Creating your new agreement, after the infidelity

  • Sexual and erotic recovery & discovery

Infidelity & Erotic Recovery Therapy  isn't about pretending the betrayal didn't happen.

It's determining whether something more honest can be built afterwards, so it doesn't happen again.

RELATIONSHIP THERAPY FOR

HIGH-CONFLICT COUPLES

High-conflict relationships can become trapped in cycles of criticism, defensiveness, escalation, withdrawal, contempt, pursuit and emotional flooding.

Over time, partners may stop discussing the original issue altogether.

They're fighting about how they're fighting.

High Conflict Relationship Therapy focuses on slowing the system down, increasing individual responsibility, identifying escalation patterns, strengthening boundaries and helping each partner understand their contribution to the relational dynamic.

Relationship therapy is not designed to make one partner responsible for regulating the other.

Each person must develop greater capacity to regulate themselves, communicate clearly and respect appropriate relational boundaries.

DISCERNMENT COUNSELING

When one person is leaning out and the other is leaning in.

Sometimes the immediate question isn't:

"How do we fix our marriage?"

It's:

"Do we even want to try?"

Discernment Counseling is traditionally designed for couples experiencing mixed agendas about whether to remain in the relationship.

Rather than immediately beginning traditional couples therapy, discernment work helps partners consider three potential paths:

PATH ONE

Maintain the relationship as it currently exists.

PATH TWO

Move toward separation or divorce or conscious uncoupling.

PATH THREE

Commit to at least 6 months Integrative Relationship/Sex Couples therapy with both partners genuinely working toward change.

The goal is clarity and confidence about direction, not pressure to preserve or end the relationship.

PREMARITAL COUNSELING

Prepare for the marriage—not only the wedding.

Premarital counseling provides couples with an opportunity to explore the conversations that become increasingly important after commitment:

Communication.

Conflict.

Sex.

Money.

Family.

Children.

Values.

Boundaries.

Expectations.

Attachment.

Roles.

Power.

And the kind of relationship you're intentionally choosing to create.

Couples interested primarily in education may also explore Truth Before the Vows, Re-Wilding Relationships' comprehensive premarital education program.

INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIP & SEX THERAPY

You don't need to bring a partner to work on relationships.

Individual therapy may be appropriate when you're:

Dating

Recovering from a breakup

Navigating divorce

Repeating unhealthy relationship patterns

Struggling with boundaries

Exploring attachment

Healing relational trauma

Questioning your sexuality or erotic identity

Working through shame

Navigating infidelity

Trying to understand why relationships activate you so intensely

Learning to regulate emotions

Trying to stop abandoning yourself inside relationships

Or simply wanting to become a healthier relational human.

Sometimes changing the relationship begins with changing how you participate in relationships.

ADULT FAMILY THERAPY

Family patterns don't disappear simply because children become adults.

Adult family therapy may address:

Parent-adult child conflict

Sibling relationships

Estrangement

Boundary problems

Enmeshment

Family roles

Caregiving

Grief

Life transitions

Communication breakdowns

Unresolved relational injuries

The goal isn't to create a family where everyone agrees.

It's helping family members relate with greater clarity, responsibility, boundaries and respect.

THERAPY FOR THERAPISTS, CREATIVES & PEOPLE WHO LIVE PUBLIC LIVES

Being highly capable doesn't make relationships easier.

And helping other people professionally doesn't make you immune from having your own relational patterns.

I work with therapists, physicians, attorneys, engineers, entrepreneurs, musicians, creatives, content creators,

adult-industry professionals and high-profile individuals and couples who may need a therapeutic space that understands complexity, privacy, professional pressure and unconventional lifestyles without judgment.

INCLUSIVE, SEX-POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP THERAPY

Re-Wilding Relationships welcomes diverse identities, relationship structures and expressions of sexuality.

My work is LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink-aware, sex-positive and inclusive of consensual non-monogamous relationships.

You shouldn't have to educate your therapist about the basic legitimacy of your identity, sexuality or consensual relationship structure before meaningful therapy can begin.

COLLABORATIVE SEXUAL HEALTH CARE

Sexual concerns aren't always purely psychological.

When appropriate and with client authorization, sex therapy may involve collaboration with other healthcare professionals such as:

• OB-GYNs

• Urologists

• Primary care physicians

• Psychiatrists

• Pelvic floor therapists

• Other sexual-health professionals

Good sex therapy recognizes that sexuality exists at the intersection of the body, brain, relationship, culture and lived experience.

THERAPY INTENSIVES

When weekly therapy isn't enough—
or isn't the format you want.

Perfect for "time-poor" humans.

Some individuals and couples prefer extended therapeutic work rather than addressing complex relational patterns in traditional 50-minute sessions.

Re-Wilding Relationships offers focused relationship and sex therapy intensives for individuals, couples and adult families.

Intensives may be particularly useful when you're seeking concentrated time for deeper work, relationship repair, sexual concerns, infidelity recovery or significant relationship transitions.
